Register to be a SSC Club Official!

Spring 2018 Club Official Class - Register by March 5th

Participation:  Any registered Southbury Soccer Club player who is age 11 or 12 by June 30th, 2018 is eligible to participate in the program.

Expectations: Club officials are expected to understand and enforce the general rules of soccer as applicable to the Big Kickers program, as well as the club-specific in-house rules implemented within that program. Further, the job of club official is one of mentor as much as it is of enforcer, as club officials are expected not only enforce the rules, but to help the players understand the rules being enforced (i.e., to explain what was done incorrectly and how it should have been done correctly). This is not intended as a replacement of the coach’s responsibility to teach their players the rules and techniques of soccer, but instead to support that training by reminding players on the field why a particular call was made the way it was.

Certification Requirements:  Any player wishing to become a club official must attend the Club Official Training clinic to become certified as a club official.

New and Aspiring Big Kicker Referees:  In order to start being assigned as a Big Kicker referee, you must register and attend the SSC Club Officials Course below.  All classes must be attended.  Kids will take a test on the last class date.  There is a limit of 25 registrants for this course.

Dates for Spring 2018 course (NEW SSC Club Officials Only): March 9 (Fri), March 15 (Thurs) and March 22 (Thurs)
Make-up/Field Class Date: TBD

In-House Program:

Southbury Soccer Club's In House (U4 - U8) programs introduce players to the game of soccer in a fun, non-competitive manner.  Focus is placed on development of basic soccer skills in preparation for travel programs.  All In House programs involve teams within Southbury Soccer Club only, and games are played on designated fields within the town.  Each program operates on a limited set of the rules of the game that is appropriate for that age level.

For more information on the Southbury Soccer In House program, click HERE.

Travel Program:

Travel programs within Southbury Soccer Club are for the U9 through U19 age groups. Players are evaluated once per year each June for the following Fall/Spring seasons, and are split into multiple divisions (A, B and C) for each age group based on skill level and the number of players registered for that age.

A higher level of commitment is typically required for players desiring to play within Division A, which is the highest competitive level. Each division plays against comparable divisions from other towns within either the Northwest District or Southwest District of the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association.
